Knowledge Update
Charting my next few weeks
I posted a longer post about why I care about knowledge building in “Where’s the Beef?” At the end of that post, I indicated that you should stay tuned for more. Well, whether you’ve been waiting with bated breath or not, here is the more!
I created The Knowledge Builders Club for Families on Facebook with a homeschooling mama, Annie Zweizig. Join us if you want more information on knowledge building. We’re releasing a free knowledge-building curriculum on Friday, August 15th. It will be available through the group, so you may want to join for that reason alone!
I applied to present at SXSW EDU for a solo presentation entitled “The Comprehension Mistake: How Schools Get Learning Wrong.” I plan to focus on knowledge building and the content in “Reading Misunderstood.” But here’s the catch, SXSW EDU bases a percentage of my “score” on popular vote, so unless I get enough votes, I will not be presenting in March 2026. So, for my shameless plug: Vote for my session (you have to sign up to vote). Your vote means I’m that much closer to sharing my message there!
Lastly, I plan to use this space for the next few weeks to go into more detail on why knowledge matters for learning and to share several other resources if you’re interested in diving in further on this topic.
Here are my key takeaways:
So, even more to come next week. That seems to be my latest refrain…
